El futuro

TOPIC:  EL FUTURO (FUTURE TENSE)
 CLASS - 7

Dear Students,

First of all, I would like to welcome you all on coming to Class 7.
This is our first class using the blog and I want us to take maximum benefit from it.
As we all are having difficulties in coping with the Coronavirus pandemic, what best we can do at our end is we follow all the instructions and precautionary measures given by our parents, our doctors and our teachers. We all need to help our society in this battle against Covid-19 in whatever capacity we can. I believe, our foremost duty right now is to establish a good online study atmosphere. For this, we need to complete our work right on time.
Here, I would like to quote my favourite writer Sir George Orwell - Who controls the past, controls the future, who controls the present controls the past
While your parents are busy taking care you and everything you need. You are expected to use this love and care in your studies. I wish you all the very best for your future.

So, now we have to take hold of the present and showcase some academic brilliance.

Thank you for taking the first step and logging in ! You all are the best !

Last year in class 6, we studied present tense in Spanish. We learnt to conjugate verbs in present tense and frame simple sentences. This year we will be covering Past and Future Tense.

Before we start our topic, lets take a quick recap of verbs from last year :

a) There are two types of verbs :   - regular and irregular
b) Verbs are divided into three categories : ar ending, er ending and ir ending.

  ej. Hablar, Comer, vivir

c) To conjugate the verbs in present tense, we first remove the ending of the verb then add the following

ej. Hablar - Yo hablo tres lenguas

Él vive en Estados Unidos de America

Comer - Tú comes papas fritas

                  Ella come toda la comida

Vivir -  Nosotros vivimos en Nueva Delhi

                  Vosotros vivís en Nueva Delhi

Now Let's start today's topic

El futuro or The future fense

El futuro or the future tense is used to tell what “will” happen, or what “shall” happen. The future tense expresses actions that have not yet occurred or that will occur at a later time.

por ejemplo :

will go to the beach next month.
Yo iré a la playa el proximo mes.

shall write the letter next week.

Yo escribiré la carta la próxima semana.

Let's look at more simpler examples

I will eat
Yo comeré

Alejandro will study with me.
Alejandro estudiará conmigo.

For actions that will occur in the near future, the present tense is more commonly used.
(well this is a different case, we will discuss about this case separately)

Esta noche voy al cine.
Tonight I’m going to the movies.

Further in the future, use the future tense.

El año que viene iré a España.

Next year I’m going to Spain.

Lets look at regular verbs in future tense first

Regular verbs in the future tense are conjugated by adding the following endings to the infinitive form of the verb:

-é, -ás, -á, -emos, -éis, -án.

Por ejemplo :

To conjugate "hablar", which is an ar ending we are going to use the same set of ending mentioned above

hablaré

hablarás

hablará

hablaremos

hablaréis

hablarán

We are going to use the same endings for "Comer", which is an er ending verb.

Comeré
Comerás
Comerá
Comeremos
Comeréis
Comerán

Once again we are going to use the same ending for "Vivir", which is an ir ending verb

Viviré
vivirás
vivirá
viviremos
viviréis
vivirán

{ Important reminder : we have only one set of endings for all kind of verbs }

You have to make this chart in your notebook

[ Note : Unlike present tense, we do not remove the ending in future tense]

{all of you immediately take 60 seconds to memorise the endings of future tense  : -é, -ás, -á, -emos, -éis, -án.}

Now all of you have to conjugate the following verbs in future tense and write 2 sentences with each verb using different subjects, i.e. Do not use "yo" form in all the sentences.

a) Trabajar (to work)  : _____________________________________________________
b) Arreglar (to fix) : _______________________________________________________
c) Temer ( to fear) :  _______________________________________________________
d) Proteger ( to protect) : ___________________________________________________
e) Correr ( to run) : _______________________________________________________

We will discuss about the irregular verbs is future tense in the next class.

Eso es todo por el día!
Buenos dias y gracias chicos !
Cuídate bien y no olvida a lavar sus manos.
Hasta Pronto en la próxima clase de español !
Adios!
